About

For 9 years, starting in 1959 Larry Rosen owned Smith’s Pharmacy, a drug store located at 14th & Clifton Streets in Washington DC.

On April 4th, 1968, the evening that Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, three days of rioting in DC ensued and Larry’s store was burned down. Now known in history as the Washington DC Riots.

The purpose of this blog is for Larry, now 86 years old,  to write and connect with others about Wasington DC history, history of drug stores in the 1950’s & 1960’s and experiences of the DC Riots.

Larry welcomes you to read or comment on his blog posts, view his photos & videos, or Email him to discuss these topics or request an interview.
