My First DC Home

The above photo is a copy of the first home we moved into, in the SW DC neighborhood. It was located atl 713 41/2 Street.S/W, and previosly occupied by a Mr. & Mrs. Yoleson, parents of a well known movie-stage show actor Al Jolson. Our family previously resided in Cheyenne, Wyoming where I was born. My father was a shochet and mohel–a shochet is someone who slaughters chickens, turkeys, and ducks according to the method designated by Jewish regulations.
The rest of the family were my father, mother and brothers Phil and Sam-I was the youngest.and had a sister living in New York.I attended kindergarten at Bowen,Phil studied Pharmacy at George Washington University, Sam went to Jefferson Junior.
